Pastor Bob Fu
The angry mob organized by Miles Kwok lurks outside Pastor Bob Fu’s home in Midland, Texas.
Photo by P MonaghanThe city of Midland, deep in the oil country of West Texas, has rich associations for Americans of various age groups. Older Americans, for example, associate Midland with two American presidents named Bush, George H.W. Bush (Bush 41), was president from 1989-1993. His son George W. (Bush 43), served as president from 2001-2009.

But Americans who pray for China will also recognize, Midland as the U.S. base of Chinese dissident Bob Fu, prominent outside China for publicly defending persecuted Christians there. GODSPEED Magazine editor in chief David Aikman, who has been friends with Bob for three decades after he and his wife Heidi fled China in 1997 to avoid a forced abortion, spoke to him recently.
Today Midland, as Bob explained to David by phone, is becoming notorious because Chinese Communist agents have been swarming into town and personally harassing him. Groups of Chinese in September gathered outside Bob’s Midland property and denounced him as a “fraud” and a Communist agent.

But the demonstrators identified themselves as followers of Guo Wengui, also known as Miles Kwok, who arrived in the U.S. a few years ago on a tourist visa, but who Bob believes is under instructions from the Chinese Communist Party to destroy him, or at least his reputation.

Guo has himself called on his followers to “eliminate” Bob. Bob has been publicly defended by rallies of Christians who admire him and China Aid Association which he founded in 2002. U.S. Senator Ted Cruz said,

"American citizen Bob Fu, who has been a tireless advocate for religious liberty and human rights in China, should not be threatened here in the U.S. or anywhere else.

Threats from thugs are simply unacceptable."
Bob is today being protected in a Midland safe house by the mayor of Midland and by local police and FBI agents. But some of these agents seem unclear what the attitude of Washington higher-ups is.

Guo aka Miles Kwok is said to be an associate of Steve Bannon, the former White House adviser fired by President Trump in August of 2017 who was arrested in August 2020 for allegedly defrauding donors of a campaign fund for the construction of a border wall.

Midland Mayor Patrick Payton gives a fiery address to communist demonstrators on CBS 7 NewsAt this moment leading up to an important presidential election, doesn’t the top brass in Washington recognize that there is something wrong about Chinese Communist thugs running rampant and threatening to kill a patriotic American in a Texas city famous for producing two American presidents?
Perhaps this is a pivotal moment in American history.

The Love of God

A true story of Godspeed Magazine's 8-year journey doing God's will. Between 2008 and 2012 my life was in shambles, I lost my stepdad, helplessly watched my business implode, underwent a painful divorce, and lost custody of my only son (at the time). The Lord called me into His will in 2012 when I was recovering from major surgery by saying there would be a movement centered around a digital publication He called GODSPEED Magazine (GSM).
