HOW A BaptismalTOOK OVER DC'S NATIONAL MALLby Chris McKinneyNameless &
Faceless
God is spreading the fires of revival all across our nation. A few weeks ago, a massive baptismal pool sat right in the middle of the National Mall in Washington DC. Worship services, preaching, baptisms, and individual ministry ran long into the night at a place normally reserved for those with political motivations.
However, no political figures spearheaded this event. There were no corporate sponsors. According to Pastor Marty Darracott, the event was “nameless and faceless.” Such an approach ensures that only God is glorified through it.
It began in Dawsonville
This all began with a revival service held at Christ Fellowship Church in Dawsonville, Georgia every Sunday night. God has moved to save, heal, and deliver thousands during this revival, which has been going strong since February of 2018. The North Georgia Revival Team, led by CFC Senior Pastor Todd Smith, have also baptized more than 10,000 people from around the world, sometimes baptizing from Sunday evening all the way into Monday morning business hours. The Holy Spirit meets people in the water—often healing, delivering, or overwhelming them with His presence as they are being baptized.
Thousands of miracles have taken place, including some astonishing physical healing miracles. But perhaps the most interesting aspect of this revival is the ease with which it is transferring to other communities around the country after pastors come and experience the outpouring in person. People are coming from various denominations and locations, and then taking the anointing for revival back home with them.

The Workers
Pastor Marty is an executive pastor at CFC, and having personally baptized many of the 10,000 people mentioned previously, he has become one of the primary figures in the North Georgia Revival. David’s Tent, led by Jason Hershey, is a 24-hour prayer effort which has been in place on the National Mall since 2015. The North Georgia Revival partnered with David’s Tent to bring the baptismal waters to DC.

As the DC event was about to kickoff, Pastor Marty and the other revival team members began asking God what He wanted to do there on the National Mall. Pastor Marty tells GODSPEED that the Lord answered Him very clearly, giving him specific instructions to chat with two young men standing nearby.
First Greeting
Shortly after meeting them, God gave Pastor Marty words of knowledge to share with the young men. Initially, the men had not been very receptive to Pastor Marty’s small talk, with one even asking “what they were selling.” At that point, Pastor Marty heard the Lord say, “Tell the young man on the left that he has back pain.”
Dual Miracles
The young man was awestruck and reported that he indeed had been suffering from severe back pain for the previous six months. He wanted to know how Pastor Marty could possibly know this about him. The Lord then told Pastor Marty to tell the young man that he was 33 years old. Again, the man was in awe and wanted to understand the nature of these revelations.
After explaining that it was Jesus’ way of showing love to the young man, Pastor Marty prayed for healing, and the young man was immediately healed of his back problems. God also saved both of the young men right there on the spot. Pastor Marty later learned that one of the young men was a judge from Benin, and the other was a magistrate from Uganda. Both men were only in DC for that one night to take part in some professional training.

Finding Truth
Pastor Marty also shared with us how in another instance, a young Muslim lady had been jogging by the event. After making her way past the event, something caused her to stop and turn around. She began asking some of the team members what the event was all about, and they began to share the good news of Jesus Christ with her. Weeping, she responded, “I’ve been searching for truth my entire life.” She then prayed to receive Christ as Savior before being baptized right there on the National Mall.
Quite a few others planned only to go for a walk or a jog that day and instead had their lives radically changed. In all, around 200 people were baptized there on the Mall. While the North Georgia team had no political motives whatsoever for the event, some of the people who got into the baptismal waters briefly mentioned working in government roles. As Pastor Marty commented, “They’re not looking for a debate. They’re looking for Him.”

When asked what he believes God’s heart is for the US in the near future, Pastor Marty responded that “through these pockets of revival” God is now going to bring “great unity” even in the midst of dark spiritual forces trying to tear us apart. “God is saying, ‘Absolutely not. I’m about to blow all of your minds.’ Unity and great peace, I believe, is coming to this nation.”

The Love of God

A true story of Godspeed Magazine's 8-year journey doing God's will. Between 2008 and 2012 my life was in shambles, I lost my stepdad, helplessly watched my business implode, underwent a painful divorce, and lost custody of my only son (at the time). The Lord called me into His will in 2012 when I was recovering from major surgery by saying there would be a movement centered around a digital publication He called GODSPEED Magazine (GSM).
